Happy Birthday Jiamin a.k.a Wang Ka Min!!
past week had been a reli busy week for all of us cos its Wang Ka Min's birthday, and the planning and preparation all started on sunday!!
Sunday! ~30.03.2008~
hees tts the day sis, jiamin, gladys, and i went to watch Energy live at Kallang Leisure Park!! (its a shopping centre btw, not reli a park). shall blog abt Energy another time haha. okies so the planning started in the ladies after the performance, when sis told gladys abt jas' intention of having a surprise party for jiamin for his birthday, and we were stil contemplating the idea but undecided..
Monday!! ~31.03.2008~
actual planning starts!! sis and i met jas at boon keng mac for study and birthday plans, and.. the studying din go too well, but the planning did!! hees shortly after we reached mac, jas started the ball rolling and in no time, sis had taken out a piece of paper and we were all intently discussing the events that were to take place, down to the nitty gritty details of the exact timing that ething should happen, which went like..
Food for the party:
1. pizza from canadian pizza or pizza hut (canadian pizza was decided cos we usually order takeaways from there and not pizza hut, so if we order from hut jiamin might get suspicious)
2. self-made pasta with bolognoise and ham and minced-meat and stuffs (not in the menu in the end due to some particular forgotten reasons)
3. drinks- lemon tea and peach tea
4. waffles
5. ice-cream
6. birthday cake!
Plans for the surprise! :
1. i was supposed to msg jiamin to ask if he was free for study+dvd session on fri, cos seemingly i was usually the one who asked so it would appear normal
2. we were to order pizza on fri at 5.30pm and the pizza man was estimated to arrive at 6pm
3. jas and elin would buy the cake at hougang mall and reach our place before the pizza man, so estimated arrival time for them was anytime before 6, supposedly ard 5.45pm
4. meanwhile at our place, jiamin was to make the call to canadian pizza so that it would be more realistic and he would totally expect the arrival of the pizza man and not jas and elin with the cake
5. when the bell rang, jiamin would open the door (sis would look into the doorhole and say its the pizza man and we would haf been eating smth before that and sae, "hands dirty!" and cant open it) expecting the pizza man, but oOla!! it would be start of the surprise party!!
hees it all seems pretty good right??!
wasting no time, we immed put our plans into action! i msg jiamin to ask if he was free for study&dvd, and he said yes! jas or sis asked gladys what kinda cake would be gd and gladys said anything but coffee cake =)
ohs and i met a jc fren at mac who was sitting jus right beside our table! so coincidental! cos jas was sitting at our table before we arrived and din noe who he was. imagine the next person u might be sitting next to at mac or anywhere can be indirectly related to u! anw we chatted for awhile before he left to do errands =)
after the planning at mac, we headed off to the mart station to mit elin to get the jiamin's presents! we decided it might be a cute to get him a soft toy bear since he is the lover of anything that's related or looks a tinsy bit like a bear (he doesn't even eat yupi gummy be*r* no matter how much mi and sis and elin tried to persuade him that it looks or tastes nth like a bear! and it gets him all worked up when we bite off yupi's head or leg or any other part.. okies sorries it does sound a bit disgusting haha), plain t-shirt for the bear and we would draw on it!
we went off to vivo cos they haf mini toons and toys 'r' us and we'd haf a good chance of finding a nice bear for him. and..... it wasn't easy at all!! we headed off to toys 'r' us first, and saw a few nice looking bears but weren't sure if they were big enough. mini toons up next but we din get anything from there either. we got a super nice bear wrapping paper from there tho. other shops din look promising, and to our surprise, they haf bear workshop there too! but our happiness was short-lived as the bears were all so small! feeling a bit lou4 qi4 abt not getting anything that day, we headed back to toys 'r' us and this time, saw the bears in a new light! haha we chanced upon some cute bears this time and finally decided on THE one..

Wednesday!! ~02.04.2008~
went to heartland mall and shopped for food!! bought sushi and chocolates and sweets before going down to dhoby ghaut xchange to browse for a bag for jiamin (sis and elin were nice to consider sending mi a pic of jiamin's bag pack, which elin did^-^), followed by rushing down to city hall to mit sis and jiamin to go for hip hop lesson!
i was earli (for once!) and walked citylink to scout for his bag, and ended up at 7-11 buying Ben and Jerry's fudge ice-cream! *yums!!*
was a little clumsy at hip hop lesson at first, and giggly at the exercises that an-an was going thru with us, but slowly managed to get used to her teaching style and hip hop mindset. so cool! an-an's super cute too! =)
after lesson we decided on filling our stomach's at hougang S-11, and it all went well til we hit the topic on meet-ups with elin and jas. jiamin asked smth related and i was saying the last time i met elin was some time ago to study with sis, and sis blurted out that we jus met elin on mon!! oops! the meet-up on mon was supposed to be a secret as we were looking for jiamin's present for the surprise party and jiamin was not to noe abt it! i immediately nudged sis under the table and that's when she realised her mistake which she tried to cover up. it seemed to work cos jiamin din ask further. whew.. =)
Thursday!! ~03.04.2008~
i tried to start off the day earli and hit vivo first thing to find the bag plus bear's accessories. it was fun shopping and i had some great buys! bought 2 shirts for the bear. in case we accidentally made any mistake on one of them, there's still the other one=) oso got sunglasses and pants for the bear! din reli see any suitable bag packs, so went down to bugis to continue the bag-search. din find anything ideal there either and so met sis at hougang mall to search some more. bought stuffs for the birthday card cos mi and sis were going to make a card each, while jas and lewis were going to share a card, and elin and leong were sharing another card.. so many cards jiamin!!
sis arrived awhile later and tho she wasn't feeling too well, we still walked through the whole hougang mall trying to find the next present for jiamin as we couldn't find a nice bag pack. we din manage to get anything so sis suggested getting a sling bag instead. i told sis that i'd go down to vivo again the next day cos there were nice sling bags there.
we left hougang mall to go to the nearby shops to get party stuffs and even got a small present for jiamin!
Friday!! ~04.04.2008~
THE BIG DAY!! sis and i went to vivo as planned and managed to get a sling bag for jiamin! as time was a little pressing even though it was pushed back, we rushed down and met jas at outram to pass her the bear's shirt and stuffs for her to decorate as well.
to make it look less suspicious cos we din wan jiamin to noe we went out to get his present, i headed to heartland mall supposedly to get some stuffs while sis went home first, so that if jiamin and gladys arrived, sis would appear to haf stayed home the whole day. hees.
i managed reached home before they arrived =)
when they came, sis, gladys and i begin rushing ard, taking turns to disappear cos we hadta blow the balloons for the party. poor galdys had to feign stomach ache and disappear to the "bathroom" several times, and once i even saw her bringing toilet paper to the bathroom..
a few giveaways..
once, while jiamin and i were in the living room, galdys came down and after awhile, told jiamin she was having stomach ache again. when i heard that, i couldn't help but burst into laughter. luckily gladys was drinking her honey milk tea at that time so i could pretend to haf been amused by her drinking cold drink despite having tummy aches and not cos she was trying to act in pain but actually jus wanting to rush upstairs to blow the balloons..
another time, jiamin noticed that sis hp was ringing, but luckily he din see the caller cos it was jas! i quickly took the hp and shouted for sis. and to my horror, sis appeared with an inflated balloon in her hand! thats not all! when she realised it, she was so shocked that she let go of the balloon, which flew halfway across the living room where jiamin and i were, with a loud PHOO-PHOO sound before landing on the staircase! i was in shock but tried to hide it, and it seemed that jiamin din notice cos he was watching the tv!! thank goodness for the show that caught his attention!! BIGGG WHEWWW!!
we managed to get jiamin to make the call to canadian pizza, and to distract him, we started revising the steps we learnt at hip hop!! halfway thru, the doorbell rang!! sis gladys and i started throwing glances at each other and were somewhat flustered. jiamin asked us to open the door and as planned, sis walked towards the door and looked into the doorhole, but when she turned, her face was filled with shock and she shouted, "its REALLY the pizza man!!" still, she continued with, "my hands dirty! jiamin open!" without thinking twice. i busied myself taking my wallet and stayed away from the door. gladys had no choice but to be the one who opened it, but with jiamin following close behind.
when the door opened, it was my turn to be in shock cos staring back at us.. was the pizza man who shouted "Happy Birthday!!" at no one in particular. we onli heaved a sigh of relief when we saw jas, elin, and leong with the birthday cake shouting, "SURPRISE!!" sis and i stared popping the poppers and blowing the poo-poo thing like crazy behind jiamin, who looked shock! and everyone conveniently forgot the pizza man til leong hadta pay him first haha.

oops! pant-less bear cos the pants were too small! no choice, so shame shame..
jiamin was reli nice and took some time to go through our presents and cards, appreciating each and everyone of them, and he was still looking at them and hadn't had his dinner even when eone else's had had their fill!
cheesecake with M&M's!! jas bought the M&M's and sis, jas, and leong (i wasn't reli paying attention cos watching tv but i think so) were decorating the cake with it! can u see the smiley face? =)
not forgetting.. cards!! we played Saboteur, and the first round was somewhat tedious cos there were so many dead-ends to clear, plus our eyes were stuck on the tv as it was the last episode of yi fang ban ting yi shui gang! so we decided to try again, and this time, not put any dead-ends, and it was much faster! it was oso great cos everyone was starting to get the hang of the game!
